“Students use ICT to generate ideas and plan solution” (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2014a)

"Students use comprehension strategies to analyse information, integrating and linking ideas from a variety of print and digital sources" (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2014b, ACELY1703)

Critique: One of the most effective ways for students to organise and connect their thinking and learning is through the creation of mind maps and concept maps (Beavers, 2014). Popplet is a useful resource for use across the curriculum for students to plan and generate ideas as it allows students to represent their understandings using an interactive mind map that can contain a combination of words, weblinks, drawings, video and images. Popplet could be particularly valuable when used by students for revision, to visualise connections between their research, brainstorm vocabulary, connect ideas from a variety of sources and plan writing ideas (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2014a; Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2014b, ACELY1703; Beavers, 2014).
