Critique: Online collaboration tools such as Padlet that promote student collaboration and reflection have been shown to enhance cognitive thinking and comprehension (Malloon and Bernsten, 2015). Padlet’s simple format is easy to use on most digital devices as students only have to access the wall URL and they can view other’s ideas and then double tap to expand on them or add their own ideas and opinions. Walls can also be saved for later use and copies taken for further reference. Padlet can be used in classrooms to teach students to generate ideas in response to a reading task by sharing their ideas, opinions and findings with their class or working group and then reorganising the ideas into a sequential and useful format (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2014).
