Australian Curriculum Connections: Managing and operating ICT Level 3

“Students identify and independently operate a range of devices, software, functions and commands, taking into consideration ergonomics when operating appropriate ICT systems, and seek solutions when encountering a problem” (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2014)

Description: This interactive activity encourages students to build their vocabulary and to apply their understandings to identify different types of technology and what they do.

Rationale:This ABCYA- Computer Vocabulary game is useful for teaching students about identifying different types of technology as it provides students with an explanation of all the technology components before the game begins. It is an effective game for teaching technology skills, as it is interactive, challenging and provides students with a goal to work towards achieving (Juhari and Zin, 2013; Reid and Van Niekerk, 2013). While the game displays advertisements on the sides of the page they are of an appropriate nature for children and do not distract from the content and objectives of the game.
